Official Trump (TRUMP), often called “Trump Coin”, has experienced quite a steep rally over the last few days. CoinGecko data shows that TRUMP’s price has rallied by more than 10% in the last 24 hours, 76% in the last week, and 58% in the monthly charts. Let’s discuss why Trump Coin is up today and if the rally can sustain over the coming weeks.
What’s Behind Trump Coin’s Price Rally?

TRUMP’s rally is almost definitely fueled by President Trump’s recent White House cryptocurrency event. Trump invited several CEOs and founders from the industry. The aim was to further push the current administration’s pro-cryptocurrency stance and to further endorse the CLARITY Act. Trump also stated that the US plans to purchase a large amount of Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies. Investors must have felt a wave of bullishness following the event, leading to a price surge for Trump Coin.
President Trump’s White House event led to a general market bullishness. Bitcoin (BTC) briefly climbed to the $79,000 level, but faced some resistance. BTC has since settled at the $77,000 price level. Additionally, the cryptocurrency market is already showing some signs of weakness. Nearly $550 million worth of longs were liquidated on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Trump Coin, being a memecoin, could face additional sell offs over the coming days. TRUMP’s price has already fallen from $3.33 to $2.49 in the last day.

Apart from the ongoing correction, Trump Coin has also fallen by a whopping 96.6% from its all-time high of $73.43, which it attained on January 19, 2025, one day before President Trump’s inauguration. TRUMP’s price has taken a massive beating over the last year, and has moved in tandem with President Trump’s popularity. Trump’s policies were not the most popular and his tariff spree led to a dip in voter’s confidence. Trump Coin’s current rally also hinges on Trump’s statements at the White House event. If the plans fail to follow through, TRUMP’s price could take another beating.
