Kazakhstan AI compute buildout widens with NVIDIA GPU deployments

News

Kazakhtelecom has deployed NVIDIA H200 and B300 GPUs, while inDrive and Pony.ai are exploring robotaxi services in Astana.

Kazakhstan’s artificial intelligence ecosystem is moving from planning to deployment, with NVIDIA saying the country’s compute base is expanding across infrastructure, applications and AI-native services. In a blog post published on 2026-10-23, NVIDIA said the shift is visible across the full AI stack and that the latest announcements point to both growing supply of accelerated computing and rising demand for it.

Infrastructure and deployment plans

NVIDIA said Kazakhtelecom, Kazakhstan’s largest telecommunications company, has already deployed 400 NVIDIA H200 GPUs and 480 NVIDIA B300 GPUs in Astana and Almaty. The company also plans to deploy more than 1,000 GPUs next year in the Data Center Valley, along with more than 1,000 NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPUs in the Ekibastuz region, according to the post. The source describes these as infrastructure deployments intended to serve enterprises, developers and institutions at scale.

The update comes alongside other recent signals that Kazakhstan’s AI and digital infrastructure agenda is advancing. On 2026-10-01, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reviewed AI and digitalization projects at AI & Digital Bridge 2026, including plans for the Data Center Valley cluster, while on 2026-06-22 the government said Kazakhstan had signed AI, science and digital-infrastructure cooperation agreements in Brussels. Those official updates support the broader investment and policy backdrop, but they do not by themselves confirm commissioning of the Data Center Valley project.

Applications and compute demand

NVIDIA also said AI-native companies are building capacity for higher-order applications. The post said inDrive and Pony.ai are collaborating to explore robotaxi services in Kazakhstan, with Astana as the first deployment city. The companies will assess the feasibility of bringing Pony.ai’s seventh-generation robotaxis to the inDrive app, supported by NVIDIA AI infrastructure built on the NVIDIA Hyperion sensor and compute platform with the NVIDIA Halos safety system.

The company framed the country’s AI opportunity as extending beyond GPU counts, arguing that compute becomes more useful when linked with developers, universities, startups and industries. That context aligns with recent reporting from the Eurasian Development Bank on 2026-10-05, which said its AI SuperCloud, also called Alem Plus, had attracted more than 38,000 active users and over 140 AI solutions since January 2026. Together, the developments suggest Kazakhstan is building both the infrastructure layer and the user base needed to absorb it, although the source material does not provide financial terms or adoption forecasts.
