PEPE Price Nears Breakout With Justin Sun Now Top Holder

All news is rigorously fact-checked and reviewed by leading blockchain experts and seasoned industry insiders.
  • PEPE price is pressing against the resistance that capped its rally last week.
  • Arkham identified Justin Sun as the largest individual PEPE holder outside exchanges.
  • Momentum indicators favor buyers, although the token is short-term overbought.
  • Sun has not publicly commented on the holdings attributed to him.

PEPE has gained close to 17% over the past 24 hours and traded near $0.00000499 on Wednesday, bringing the meme coin back to the $0.00000511 high that preceded a sharp sell-off on October 23. The rally followed an October 27 report from blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence identifying Justin Sun, the founder of the Tron blockchain, as PEPE’s largest individual holder, with about $51.25 million in tokens spread across wallets the firm attributes to him. PEPE’s market capitalization now stands near $2.06 billion, according to CoinMarketCap data, up from roughly $1.81 billion when Arkham published its findings.

Ten days, two withdrawals

Arkham traced most of the position to two withdrawals from the Poloniex exchange. On October 17, around 7.2 trillion PEPE worth $28.44 million moved into a Sun-linked wallet, and a second transfer of 4.65 trillion tokens, valued at $20.32 million, followed on October 26. Before the first transfer, the wallets Arkham ties to Sun held only about 68 billion PEPE, a stake worth roughly $267,000.

The combined 11.85 trillion tokens equal 2.82% of PEPE’s 420.69 trillion supply, which puts Sun ahead of every identified holder outside exchanges. According to Arkham, the tokens were first bought on Binance and then routed through Poloniex and HTX, two platforms in which Arkham estimates Sun holds stakes. Over roughly the same window, Sun-linked wallets sent about $77 million in stablecoins to Poloniex, although Arkham has not shown that those funds paid for the PEPE.

Part of the attribution rests on wallets Arkham labels as “predicted,” meaning the link to Sun comes from on-chain funding patterns rather than a confirmed identity. Sun has posted about Tron and its USDD stablecoin this week, yet he has not addressed the PEPE holdings.

How the position was built

Before Oct 17

About 68 billion PEPE, worth $267,000

Oct 17

7.2 trillion PEPE ($28.44M) withdrawn from Poloniex

Oct 26

4.65 trillion PEPE ($20.32M) withdrawn from Poloniex

Oct 27

Arkham names Sun the top individual holder

Oct 28

Stake worth close to $59M at $0.00000499

Entry prices line up with support

The dollar values Arkham attached to each transfer imply average prices of roughly $0.0000040 for the October 17 batch and $0.0000044 for the October 26 batch. Those figures reflect valuations at the moment of transfer, so Sun’s actual purchase prices on Binance may differ, but they put the second batch right at the 0.5 Fibonacci retracement level on the four-hour chart and the first one below the 0.618 level. At Wednesday’s price, the 11.85 trillion tokens are worth close to $59 million, leaving the stake about $10 million in profit on paper.

Meme coins have no revenue or cash flows to anchor their valuation, so their price depends heavily on attention and on how supply is spread among holders. A wallet controlling nearly 3% of supply absorbs sell orders while it accumulates, and it can just as easily flood order books if the tokens head back to an exchange deposit address. Because every one of those transfers is visible on-chain, traders can monitor Sun’s wallets directly, which turns any movement from them into a market event of its own.

The rally runs into last week’s ceiling

The Fibonacci levels, drawn between the October 8 low and the October 23 high, mark the zones where a pullback usually slows down. PEPE has closed above the 0.236 and 0.382 levels, which capped the price during last week’s sideways trading, a sign that sellers have stepped back for now.

PEPE is trading above the upper Bollinger Band at $0.00000488, which means the price has moved beyond its usual range of the past few days and could pull back toward the middle band near $0.00000446. The RSI at 70.79 shows that buyers have dominated almost every recent candle, a stage where early buyers often start taking profits. Volume rose with the breakout, although the October 23 rally also came on heavy volume and still reversed within hours.

A second shot at the October high

A four-hour close above $0.00000511 with rising volume would confirm a break of the October swing high and open the way toward $0.00000530 and then $0.00000550. Those targets are projections, since PEPE has not traded at those prices during the period shown on the chart. A second rejection at the ceiling would point first to $0.00000476, and a drop below it would expose the $0.00000455-$0.00000446 zone, where the 0.382 level and the 20-period average overlap.

The PEPE position is a small slice of what Arkham tracks for Sun. As of October 12, the firm had tagged about $2.25 billion in on-chain assets tied to him across several blockchains, putting PEPE at a little over 2% of that portfolio. Sun can enlarge or sell a stake of that size with little consequence for his own portfolio, while the same move would hit PEPE’s order books far harder. For traders, wallet alerts on his addresses may matter as much as the next four-hour candle.
