Bitget users in Thailand face a December 5, 2026 access block, with the country’s Securities and Exchange Commission urging customers to consider action on assets held on the exchange before the restriction takes effect.
Thailand’s SEC set out the deadline in its November 5, 2026 notice after filing a criminal complaint over alleged unlicensed exchange operations. It said the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society had been notified to block bitget.com, other Bitget domains and the exchange’s application. The scheduled restriction concerns access from Thailand. SEC announcement
The SEC identified BG Limited as Bitget’s platform provider. It alleged that the exchange charged trading fees and targeted Thai users during 2022-2025 through a Thai-language website, baht-value displays and Thai-language promotions.
The complaint also names Kritsana Kritsananuwat, whom the SEC accused of helping promote the exchange through Facebook and YouTube. The allegations remain subject to the criminal process. The regulator described investigation by inquiry officials, prosecution by public prosecutors and adjudication by the courts as subsequent steps.
What Bitget customers in Thailand face before December 5
The SEC has asked customers to consider their holdings before access is blocked. Its notice specifies no asset freeze, compulsory sale or separate withdrawal cutoff, leaving customers to decide how to handle assets on the platform ahead of the scheduled restriction.
The scheduled restriction covers website, domain and application access from Thailand.
Current account access and withdrawal availability for customers in Thailand have not been established.
Bitget’s own eligibility rules already restrict service use in Thailand. Its terms, marked updated November 4, list Thailand among prohibited countries and classify residents there as restricted persons. That existing policy affects the service conditions customers face before the government block begins. Bitget’s terms
The terms describe external-wallet withdrawals as conditional on sufficient available balances, assets being free of holds and applicable requirements. Bitget may withhold processing where applicable law prevents a withdrawal or suspend withdrawals during platform incidents.
In a November 6 update, Cointelegraph reported that a Bitget spokesperson said the exchange was reviewing the SEC announcement and evaluating options for engaging with the regulator. The spokesperson said user assets remained safe and promised guidance on service-access changes through official channels. That assurance leaves account-specific withdrawal availability for customers in Thailand unresolved.
Bitget had separately announced on October 2, 2026, that its global phased restoration of withdrawals, fiat and customer-to-customer services after a September security incident was complete. That earlier update predates the Thai notice and provides no confirmation of current Thai account services. October service update
The next company guidance will concern changes affecting access to its services. The SEC also directs investors to its website and SEC Check First application to verify licensed digital asset operators. SEC investor guidance
